Conserve Water & Restoration of Water Tables
Water conservation project was undertaken with following primary Objectives
- Recharge Aquifers & Water Tables by holding the downstream water from flowing into bigger streams & rivers.
- Control run-off velocity of the water stream and prevent soil erosion
PROJECT PLAN
- Construction of Removable Weir Bunds at Kadwai with design by “Jal Nayak”, Dr. Ajit Gokhale, which are effective, economical and allows water to flow freely during monsoons.
- Three (3) such Weir Bunds (June’2019 & January’2020) have been constructed along the Kadwai River at strategic locations.
- Another such Weir Bund is being planned which will have Water Storage Capacity @ 2,540,000 liters. The project would benefit 8 wadis and 14 wells in the area which are prone to dry up post monsoons. It will be a scenic site and has the potential for Tourism & water sports including Kayaking & Boating.
- The Efforts of the River Cleaning & Weir Bunds were recognized by the people, the local administration, the peoples Representatives, District Collectorate, other NGO’s and local media too. We also received the prestigious JAL KRANTI (September’2019) award.
