All Kadwai women folk got together in a flat in New Mumbai and each one of them was assigned a creatio from a veg & non-veg dish each to grinding of chutnis to pickles to unique Kadwai snacks. Every element used was grown on the red soil of Kadwai, be it crops, vegetables, cow/buffalo milk, goat/sheep meat or the silver fishes from the river or from the Kokan coast. Every dish was then photographed professionally whereby not just the looks excited one’s eyes but also opened up a flow of saliva in the mouth tempting the taste-buds to
chomp….chomp….chomp. Adding to it was how the coffee table book was Art -Directed, Printed and put together, giving it a Unique Identity all its own : ‘Zaiqa-e- Kadwai’.

Zaiqa-e-Kadwai
It is the flavour of the essence of the cuisine of the natural spread, ordained by Allah, in the red soil of Kadwai amidst the Kokan geography.
Vegetables. Crops. Meat. Fish. All cooked in red soil utensils and spread lavishly everyday in zambah homes on mud floors to be enjoyed sitting on basnaas (wooden floor seats). Festivals and Weddings extend the spread to the entire village and guests from around the world.

This chahat for the kadwai-cuisine instigated the creation of Zaiqa-e-Kadwai, the cuisine pride of Village KADWAI.
How to go about it was the question that was well answered by the ‘Spirit of Kadwai’ beating in every heart of Kadwai.
KDKM (Kadwai Dilon ka Mela) was the first kokan village exposition on Village Kadwai red soil geography, attended by Kadwaikars from around the world, in which ‘Zaiqa-e-Kadwai’ was launched. Since then ‘Zaiqa-e-Kadwai’ has been travelling across newer regions of the world, spreading its Zaiqa in and around the global air.
